9/2/09 08:24 pm - Reading too much does this to a person...

[info]randomsome1's post about a dude who's reading all of Twightlight has me not only ROFLing hardcore but also thinking again about Twighlight. I've read the first chapter or so, couldn't take it, and promptly took it away from my person to read something much better (Like MacHale's Pendragon series or Harris's Tru Blood series. I wanna get into the former in a moment).

But I thought... Damn. If someone like her can write this shit, then... so can I!

May I present my crack that can't continue simply because of idiocy... )

Alright. So, onto other, more important things.

Pendragon. Is a pretty nifty series. Granted, MacHale really (and I mean really) lets the audience know that Bobby (main char) thinks of himself as a normal teen, he can't possibly do this, has to get back home, he's just a normal kid!, hey, she's kinda cute, but I'm a normal teen and can't do anything! It's a bit heavy-handed, and even though I got irritated, and there was some stereotype (sensei-type figure dying for the main protagonist, anyone?), I thoroughly enjoyed it enough to continue.

And I'm glad I did. Sure, he still was kind of doing the "Just wanna go home bit" but it was much, MUUUUCH less worse than the first time around. The concept is kind of neat too, something that always strikes my fancy; Travlers are people who "travel" between all sorts of different worlds 'n at and are to try to keep the peace when the world reaches a state of upmost importance. Each world has a Travler but there's an evil guy (of course) named Saint Dane (nifty name) who wants the world to go down the choas half.

I like how he's evil, but not stupid evil. He does what's needed, no access. I likes this evil! :D

Overall, if you're looking for something light to read (or for something to suggest to young teens 'n at when they're done with Harry Potter), try this one out.
